BELGRADE -- The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) has requested from Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac to submit additional information about a sack of stolen ballots.
RIK has requested written information about the results of the investigation into the ballots that were taken from a polling station in Pančevo and later found in a dumpster.
RIK members from the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) requested that the votes be counted again but RIK Secretary Veljko Odalović said that the request was unfounded.
He stressed that it was up to the Prosecution to conduct the investigation.
The authorities determined that the ballots were taken from the polling station after they were counted.
Odalović added that police “has several times been to RIK” regarding the issue and that Dveri Movement “were inspecting the election material for three days and in the end failed to inform the Commission what kind of irregularities they found”.
RIK also determined at the session on Saturday that 6,771,479 voters would be eligible to vote in the second round of the presidential elections on Sunday.
