Previously, Belgrade medical emergency services spokeswoman Nada Macura said, however, that it was still unclear whether "ice fell on the victim, or if she fell on ice", and what the "mechanism of injury" and the exact circumstances of the deadly accident were.
The accident was reported around 10:00 CET on Tuesday morning. Belgrade-based Blic newspaper is reporting that six large icicles fell from the roof of the building, one of which - said to have weighed some four kilograms - hit the 49-year-old music teacher directly on the head and killed her instantly.
Beta news agency said earlier in the day that the Serbia police (MUP) press office said a woman died in Belgrade this morning when a large amount of ice and snow fell on top of her from a roof.
Serbia is experiencing a cold snap that has so far claimed nearly a dozen lives, while a state of emergency was declared late on Sunday.
